So far, this weekend has been a blast. Friday, did chores and baked a chicken (yum). To accompany our chicken, we rented Resident Evil (first movie). The dog apparently didn't like Resident Evil, because she kept squeezing between my coffeetable and armchair, with results ranging from nearly knocking my computer over to panting restlessly in my face. She REALLY doesn't like zombie flicks.
Saturday,
extraspecialk and I joined my mother, sister, and brother in law at Renn Faire in Irwindale, CA. It was hot. It was much more commercialized then I last remembered. Lots of the hand-crafted stuff had been swapped out in favor of these Venice-beach styled merchandise shops full of cheap jewelery, cheap incense, and even cheaper spirituality. Ugh. Got to see a funny show (Maidens of the Windsor) full of dirty puns and busty wenches singing about doing lots of fun sex acts. K approved, and so did I.
Boobies were the top thing to see at Renn Faire, and there wasn't a lack of those, but the heat did put a damper on enjoying them fully. We finished off the day with a looksee at the horses. Beautiful animals, and we even got to pet a couple. Back out the front gates and into the AC'd car ride home through LA traffic, and we rested at our casa for an hour then went out to rent some movies.
An [obvious] note about Blockbuster Video: It's shit. To be more specific: Its as if shit was smelliest and most disgusting when it has the Blockbuster logo on it. Ugh. We wanted to rent the next two Resident Evil films (Milla Jojovich + Guns + Skimpy Outfits = SWEET!). We succeeded in locating them on the shelves. We brought them up to the counter. We were about to pay when the dude told us that the computer said we couldn't check one out because it "didn't exist" in teh story inventory. Mind you, the movie was literally IN the case, not 2 feet from us, in the hands of some oxygen depository called "clerk". That was it, frankly. NO more Blockbuster.
We go next door to Hollywood video - mind you, a location that the aforementioned oxygen muncher "clerk" had said they were going out of business. We asked the cute gal at the counter after we picked out THREE movies for 7.50 (vs. the two for 10 at Blockbuster) and she said that that location was staying, and the oxygen wastebaskets over at Blockbuster have been "informing" the video rental local public otherwise. Yet ANOTHER reason to say "fuck you Blockbuster!" /rantOff
Movies in hand, we head home. Fixed dinner, watch Resident Evil: Apocalypse. Action flick galore. Was just the right amount of cheese. The dog yet again, got all upset about the OMFG Zombies and tried to cram her largeness in the small space between coffeetable and chair. She REALLY doesn't like zombie flicks.
Looking forward to a lazy Sunday of baking and movie watching and chilling out. Gonna try to figure out how to play d20 Modern, and possibly work some more on my star wars campaign. Woot.
