Southern California does not get rain.

It has some misting here and there.  Some drizzle.  Then every couple years... torrential downpour.  This weekend was one of those "every couple years" scenarios.  Even then it ain't that bad compared to some places.  Its just that SoCal infrastructure is not capable of handling minor rainstorms of this magnitude, just like Admiral Ackbar is unable to handle firepower of THAT magnitude.

So, Friday night, down in Orange County lands, I taught my friends how to play Starcraft the Board Game.  Because parking was at a premium, we walked in the rain to purchase burritos and various other mexican foodz (Senor Pepe's = good).  We drank sake.  And over the next 4-5 hours, we all struggled to understand this very complex game.  We got to the point where I didn't need to explain how to use resources to buy units and buildings about 4 hours into the marathon event.  We even saw a glimmer of fun at the end of the tunnel.  Suffice it to say, it is a hard game to learn, but once we got rolling, I THINK we were having fun.  Though it was late by that hour, and two of our five needed to see the dreamworld before long.

Gonna be having a board game night this Saturday, and I am looking forward to applying what we have learned as a group to making an actual match happen.

Outside of that, weekend was slow.  Stayed in mostly (kinda felt crappy/headachy).  Stole out Saturday evening for a few hours to one of two fund-raising event's [personal profile] extraspecialk was helping to put on for her work.  Interesting discussion about the Jewish autonomous region and Lebanese foodz in da house.  Drank lots of pomegranate juice (first time), and generally had a good time.  Got introduced to people who kept congratulating me for getting married, like it was a difficult thing to do.  If you know K, it was pretty easy.

Sunday was spent playing wack-a-mole with a new character on Oblivion, and eating aforementioned Lebanese food leftovers.

Today, I am sitting at work, trying to keep warm.  My sinuses are all f-ed up, and my head hurts.  Nearly time for lunch.  And some more coffee.

Just got finished with a pet project for my Starcraft board game, latest edition to my gaming cabinet.

I walked down to the local art supply store and purchased 'tackle boxes' for the various factions (6 in all) and organized the figures and tokens appropriately.

Now Jeremy leads, swords boxes for EVERYONE!
